Once upon a time there was an egg, stolen from its nest by people who had their own purposes and agendas. When it hatched, the dragon within was raised as the daughter of an Evangelical pastor. She was told that she was born for a singular purpose: to defeat the Antichrist when Armageddon came. For years, she didn't question that purpose in the slightest. She believe what her parents told her, acted the ways that they wanted her to.

Then, in her senior year of high school, Isabella Rojas Flores broke up with her shitty gamer boyfriend, found out she was a dragon, and tried to kill the king of the ocean. In the first semester. Sometimes, just a little, you get tired of being nice and you just want to go fucking apeshit. Welcome to Dare County.

Isabella Rojas Flores was stolen as an egg and raised by an Evangelical pastor to believe that she's the Chosen One who will defeat the Antichrist. She's actually a dragon belonging to the Vargas clan, but she only found that out very recently. As in a few weeks ago recently, after which her life became an unending hellscape of fae bullshit and family drama that she really doesn't want to be involved in. All she wants to do is graduate high school. That's it! She doesn't need new brothers and a new family and to try and kill the king of the ocean. And why are there so many cults???

personality

Fundamentally, Isabella is just a good person. She's sweet, kind, and also will snitch to authority figures if she thinks it's in everyone's best interests. Despite the fact that she's... not the kind of person who generally trusts the cops, Isabella was raised in a cult to believe in authority figures so she simply believes that authority figures are there to help. Her concerns are getting good grades, graduating, and going to college.

Isabella's ideal future looks like the perfect white picket with a husband and 2.5 kids, except... does it? She's never questioned anything that she's been told, but recent events have made her start to unpack her worldview some. It hasn't made her rude, exactly, but Isabella is more willing to show unpleasant emotions. She can be angry without censoring herself now, although she still tries not to snap at people too often. She's getting used to the idea that almost nothing she's been told is true or real and she's slowly learning about pop culture, although she still doesn't understand very many references. Isabella has also started to embrace the fact that she's a dragon, not a human and what that means to her. Does she have it all figured out? Not really, but she's getting there.

Because of her upbringing, though, Isabella has a very... think Unikitty. She's cheerful and has a bad tendency to supress her bad feelings in favor of just trucking on. She doesn't quote scripture often, but she is very familiar with the Bible and tries to live by biblical principles. Because she was raised in a cult, however, she doesn't evangelize often. It's just a fact of life for her, and she hasn't managed to unpack her feelings about religion yet.

Also she doesn't know fuck or shit about pop culture, but she has played both Untitled Goose Game and Fortnite. This was a plot point.

powers & abilities

★ DRAGON FORM: At the expense of her clothing, Isabella can transform from her relatively human shape to a fully dragon form. She also has a partial form of this that most often appears when she's using one of her other powers.

★ I AM WRATH: When upset, Isabella's voice takes on an almost physical quality. It's essentially a sonic screm she doesn't quite have control over yet.

★ BRING ME THE PRINCESS: A form of light mesmer. If Isabella makes a reasonable request, people will feel compelled to grant it. This doesn't work on asks like "Could you get along with your mortal enemy?" but it will work on reasonable requests like "Will you talk to me, please?"

★ BARGAINING CEREMONY: In any situation where there's smoke and Isabella is making eye contact with someone, she can enter a bargaining ceremony. In that ceremony, she can exchange information, objects, and favors with the other person in order to gain something she wants. Or, if someone is foolish enough to ask, something they want.

first impressions

★ VISUAL: Isabella is fairly tall but doesn't seem like it because she's proportional. She also doesn't have a particularly intimidating demeanor, so it's easy to forget how tall she is. Also she gets taller when she's partially dragon transformed.

★ FASHION: You know that prep girl in every teen movie? Yeah. Isabella almost exclusively wears extremely girly but relatively modest clothing. There's a lot of cardigans in almost identical shades of pink and cream, baby blue blouses, and skirts that go past her knees. She's recently come into posession of jeans and flannel shirts, but even then she prefers her standard color palette of pastel pinks and blues with the occasional purple.

★ DEMEANOR: Unlike the prep stereotype that she dresses like, Isabella's body language tends to be very open and friendly. When she's angry, however, Isabella can be extremely intimidating. Think Unikitty from The Lego Movie.

★ SOUND: Unsurprisingly, a lot like Unikitty, although Isabella is a little more softspoken than Unikitty is generally. She has the same enthusiasm and tone, just at like. Half the energy level.

★ SCENT: She's a vanilla or vanilla-lavender scented product person, but those with keen noses will note that there's something slightly smokey underlying the vanilla. Sort of burnt caramel?

world information

Dare County is a TTRPG campaign CW-style TV show centered on a group of teenagers who happen to be supernatural trying to find out what, exactly, is up with the fucking ocean. Ostensibly, they're all in drama club and putting on The Outsiders. In actuality, like in most teen dramas, they're spending most of their time running around solving problems that should probably be solved by adults. Also there's a frankly unsustainable amount of cults? Why are there so many cults in this one small part of North Carolina?

★ ISABELLA ROJAS FLORES: This character!

★ ALEJANDRO VARGAS: A dragon, but not the same type as Isabella. Isabella's younger brother. Only recently found out that they were siblings, despite being the only two Latine kids in their school and both having bright green hair.

★ ALEXANDRA BEAUREGARD: A witch who doesn't really know what she's doing and has a deeply type-A personality. Isabella's best friend by default.

★ SPENCER BEAUREGARD: A teenage edgelord who started a cult that Isabella joined to keep an eye on it. Got trapped in trashjail for half a season.

★ LORELEI DYNA:A selkie who was tasked with finding the missing king of the sea. Also a type-A person, but less aggro about it than Alexandra.

★ JAY WHITE: A shy character who made a deal with a demon, despite reading Faust. Also got trapped in trashjail for half of a season.

★ ARI WESTWOOD: A zombie question mark? Eats people, villain apologist, just an absolute weirdo.

★ KRIS LORDE: A curious freshman who got adopted by the Vargas family before being sent to the mainland to live with a family far away from the rest of the cast.

⚜ FOURTHWALLING: If you'd like your character to have watched the fictional show Dare County, that's fine! Isabella's life is so weird that it'll barely register to her, as long as you don't directly tell her she's fictional.

⚜ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes, absolutely! Isabella isa big hugger and she can be pretty touchy-feely, especially when she knows someone. However, she is very respectful of boundaries so if someone doesn't seem receptive she'll lay off.

⚜ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Preferably not! While Isabella is physically strong, she's a big pacifist and she's not very trained in combat so she'll get overwhelmed quickly.

⚜ RELATIONSHIPS: I'm chill with it! Isabella is pretty firmly a lesbian, even though she's not totally aware of that, so she's pretty easy to ship with anyone she's "close friends" with.
